What the plugin will and won’t edit
Silotree only ever wraps words that are already in your post, and only where it can do so without breaking anything. This is the full list of what it writes into and what it leaves alone, so you can tell a refusal from a fault.
Steps
Check which editor the post was built with
Posts built with a page builder are read, and counted in your audit, but never written to. The plugin recognises Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, Bricks, Oxygen, WPBakery, Avada and Thrive Architect, and refuses with This post is built with Elementor, which Silotree will not edit.
Posts written in the block editor or the Classic Editor are edited, within the limits below.
Check where the words sit in the post
Where Silotree writes links, and where it never does Part of the post Silotree writes links here? Paragraphs, lists, list items, quotes Yes Classic Editor content (and the Classic block) Yes Paragraphs inside Group, Columns, Cover, Media & Text and Details blocks Yes Headings (H1–H6) No Image and figure captions No Buttons, navigation, forms No Code, preformatted text, keyboard text No Words already inside a link No Shortcodes, and anything between a shortcode’s opening and closing tags No Recipe cards: WP Recipe Maker, Tasty Recipes, Create by Mediavine No Blocks from other plugins, and everything inside them No Embeds, iframes, SVG, scripts No A link can wrap words that are partly bold or italic, as long as the formatting starts and ends inside the linked words.
Read the reason Silotree gives for any skipped link
Silotree never guesses. If it can’t place a link with certainty, it changes nothing in that post and says why — next to the link in Silotree, or in the result on the WordPress screen. The common reasons are in a link didn’t land.
What you should see
Every link Silotree writes wraps words that were already in a paragraph, list or quote. Nothing else in the post is rewritten, a revision is saved first, and undo takes out exactly those links. No post gets more than six Silotree links.
If it doesn’t work
- A post built with a page builder needs a link
Add it in the page builder yourself. The suggestion in Silotree tells you the words and the target.
- The words are in a heading or caption
Pick other words in a paragraph with Change words on the link card — see Links to add.
- Your theme or a plugin uses its own blocks for body text
A developer can add those blocks with the
silotree_prose_blocksfilter, and container blocks withsilotree_container_blocks. Only add blocks that store plain paragraph HTML.
Questions
Why does Silotree refuse posts built with Elementor or Divi?
Page builders store a post’s layout in their own format alongside the HTML. Editing the HTML alone can be overwritten by the builder or break the layout, so Silotree reads these posts but never writes to them, and the refusal names the builder.
Will it break my recipe cards?
No. Recipe cards from WP Recipe Maker, Tasty Recipes and Create by Mediavine are recognised and never edited, including their shortcodes.
Can I let it write into a custom block?
Developers can extend the list of blocks it writes into with the silotree_prose_blocks filter, and the containers it looks inside with silotree_container_blocks.
