Write strong matches every week
If you would rather not approve links one at a time, Silotree can write the surest ones for you. After each weekly scan it writes up to 10 strong matches through the same path as Write, then emails you each link with one button that undoes the lot. It is off until you turn it on, on any paid plan or during the trial.
Steps
Turn it on in Site settings → Automation
In Silotree, open Site settings at the foot of the sidebar and go to Automation. Turn on Write strong matches every week. Before anything changes, the switch opens a short list of what it does and the exact links it would write if it ran now. Press Turn on weekly writing to confirm, or Not now.
From then on, after each weekly scan Silotree writes up to 10 strong matches, no more than 2 in one post and never two in one paragraph. It writes through the same path as Write: WordPress keeps a copy of each post first, the plugin reads each change back, and the week is one batch in Links → Written. Everything it leaves stays in Links → To add for you.
Under the switch, Site settings says how the last week went: how many links it wrote, or why it wrote none.
Read the email after each week it writes
Each week it writes something, you get an email: Silotree added 4 links to yoursite.com. It lists every link, the words it sits on, the post it points to and the sentence around it. A week that writes nothing sends nothing.
Undo a week, or turn it off
Press See them, or undo all in the email. The page that opens lists the links with a View post link for each; opening it changes nothing. Press Undo all to put every post back as it was. The email’s Undo works for 30 days, and the week stays in Links → Written for good. Undone links are never written again by weekly writing.
To stop, press Turn off weekly writing in the email, or turn the switch off in Site settings. Links already written stay in your posts unless you undo them.
If it doesn’t work
- Site settings says it skipped a week
It writes nothing when WordPress is not connected, when the site has moved to the free plan, when revisions are turned off in WordPress (it cannot keep a copy to put back), or when Silotree was already writing to the site. Each says so under the switch. Fix the cause and the next weekly scan writes again.
- Fewer links went in than the preview showed
The preview is what qualified when you looked. By the scan, a post may have changed, a link may already be there, or a post may be open in the editor; those are skipped and stay in Links → To add.
Questions
Which links does it write?
Only strong matches: the words name the linked post, and the match clears the same bar as the Strong match filter in Links → To add. At most 10 a week, no more than 2 in one post, never two in one paragraph or in paragraphs side by side, and none in a paragraph that already holds two links. Links to unlinked posts go first.
What if I edited a post after the scan?
It is left alone. Weekly writing only uses posts the scan has just read, and the plugin checks the paragraph is word for word what the scan read before it writes. Anything that does not match is skipped and stays in Links → To add.
Will it write a link I skipped or undid?
No. A link you skipped, or one you undid after it was written, is never written by weekly writing.
Is it on the free plan?
No. The free plan writes its first 3 links when you press Write, so you see each one go in. Weekly writing is on every paid plan and during the 14-day trial, and it needs the WordPress plugin connected. If a site moves to Free, or WordPress is disconnected, it pauses and says so in Site settings.
Does a scan I start myself write links?
No. Only the weekly scan Silotree runs by itself is followed by weekly writing, at most once a week.
