Link the posts Google has not added to search yet
A post Google has not added to search cannot be found there. With Search Console connected, Silotree asks Google about your posts a few at a time and puts links to the ones it has not added first, so Google has more ways to find them.
Steps
Connect Search Console
This check needs Search Console, see connect Search Console. Once it is connected, Silotree asks Google about your posts in the background, a few every hour, using Search Console’s URL Inspection on your own property.
- Posts that were shown in Google search in the last 28 days are never asked about.
- Posts never asked about come first, newest first.
- Each address is asked about at most every two weeks.
Silotree stays below Google’s daily limit for URL inspections, so the inspections you run yourself in Search Console still work. Google’s answers are used from the next scan.
Open Links to add and choose Not in Google yet
Open Links to add. When links are waiting for posts that Google has not added, or possibly has not, the filters include Not in Google yet; most sites never see it. Press it to see only the links that point at those posts. Links to them also rank higher in the full list.
Read what Google said about each post
Above the links, a panel lists the posts, each with a tag:
- Not in Google: Google’s own answer, in plain words, with its Search Console wording (for example Crawled - currently not indexed), when it checked and when it last crawled the post.
- Possibly not in Google: no Google views in any Search Console data Silotree holds, and not asked about yet. This is a weaker sign: Google hides some searches, so the post may be in search after all.
Each post has a button for the links waiting for it, or says No links to it waiting yet.
Approve and write the links to them
Approve the links as usual, then write them, see write and undo batches.
What you should see
The posts Google has not added now have links from your other posts, so Google has more ways to find them and come back to them. The weekly email says how many posts Google has not added yet, with a link straight to this filter.
If it doesn’t work
- There is no Not in Google yet filter
Either Search Console isn’t connected, or no links are waiting for a post that is missing from search. The filter only appears when it has links in it.
- A post is listed, but no links to it are waiting
A link needs words that an older post already has. If none of your posts mention it yet, add a sentence that does to a related post, or link it by hand in the editor sidebar.
Internal links help Google find a post and come back to it. Whether Google then adds it to search is Google’s decision, and a post can be left out for reasons links don’t touch.
Questions
How does Silotree know a post is not in Google?
It asks Google, using Search Console’s URL Inspection on your own property. Posts already shown in search in the last 28 days are never asked about, newer posts are asked about first, and each address at most every two weeks.
Does it use up my Search Console allowance?
Only part of it. Silotree stays below Google’s daily limit for URL inspections, so the inspections you run yourself in Search Console still work.
Will links get my post into Google?
They help Google find a post and come back to it. Whether Google then adds it to search is Google’s decision, and Silotree never promises it.
