Privacy policy
Silotree is operated by SiloTree Ltd (“we”). This page explains what we collect when you use silotree.io, the free link checker, the web app and the WordPress plugin, and what we do with it. The short version: we read your public pages to analyse your internal links, we keep what we need to run your account, and we do not sell data or use advertising trackers.
What we collect
- Your public website. When you run a scan, our crawler reads the published pages of the address you enter — titles, text and links — the same way a search engine does. We store that analysis so you can see it and compare it over time.
- Account details. Your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in readable form.
- An email address for a free audit, only if you ask. The free checker can email you when a long scan finishes. We keep that address only until the scan finishes or fails and that one email is sent, then delete it. It is not added to any list and never gets another email from us.
- Google Search Console data, if you connect it. We request read-only access and store daily clicks, impressions and queries for your own site’s pages to prioritise suggestions. You can disconnect it at any time from Settings, which asks Google to revoke our access and deletes the stored access token.
- WordPress plugin data. The plugin sends the posts it needs to analyse and receives the links you approve. It never publishes anything you have not approved, and it saves a WordPress revision before each change.
- Billing. Paid plans are sold by Creem, our merchant of record: Creem takes the payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and sends your receipts and invoices. The card and billing details you give at checkout go to Creem, which handles them under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address, your plan, your subscription status and renewal date, and Creem’s reference numbers for you and your subscription; we never see or store your card number.
- Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser, time) kept for security, and short-lived counters keyed on your IP address (and, for password resets and audit emails, on the email address) that limit abuse. The counters expire within a day.
Cookies
We set one essential cookie, silotree_session, to keep you signed in. We do not use analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner to click through.
Who processes data for us
- Hosting and database providers that run the service.
- Creem, our merchant of record, for payments, tax and invoices. As the seller of your purchase it is responsible for the payment data it collects.
- Resend, to send password-reset emails, the free audit’s one result email when you ask for it, and the weekly summary, which you can switch off in Settings or from any summary email.
- Google, only if you connect Search Console.
- OpenRouter, which handles every AI request we make and passes it to the model that answers it: Voyage AI for topic grouping, Google for link wording and topic names, Anthropic for content briefs, and TypeSafe’s Jev model for judging whether a suggested link is useful. We send nothing to those model providers directly. The text of your published posts is sent for these purposes only.
Silotree’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and site analyses while your account is open. Scans from the free checker that no account claims are deleted once they have not been run for 30 days.
You can delete your account yourself from Settings. That cancels any paid subscription first, asks Google to revoke Search Console access, and then deletes your account, your sites and everything we stored about them from our database straight away. We delete any remaining personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax and accounting. Links already written into your posts are ordinary links and stay there, because they are part of your site.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it. Email hello@silotree.io and we will reply within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If we change how we handle data in a way that matters, we will update this page and tell account holders by email before the change takes effect.
