What Link Whisper does well, and why people leave anyway.
It writes ordinary links into your posts, so they stay after uninstall1. Version 4.0 added a review queue, AI fixes for broken links and rebuilt reports2. It handles Elementor, Divi 5 and other page builders, works with WPML and Polylang2, has a free version with 30,000+ installs3, and costs $97 a year for one site4. Few tools below match all of that at that price.
Suggestions that miss
The most common one-star complaint: suggested links that are off-topic, especially on niche or abstract content5,6. People leave for tools that rank by traffic data or by the shape of the site.
AI credits on top of the licence
Each plan comes with a yearly pot of AI credits, and more are sold separately4; reviewers describe paying for an AI analysis as well as the licence7. Some people want a price that does not change with use.

Best for: Sites already on Rank Math PRO that want linking without another plugin.
AI Link Genius, launched in March 2026, adds an orphan filter, keyword maps, bulk link edits with rollback and broken-link monitoring, inside the suite you already pay for12,10.
The trade-off: AI suggestions are capped monthly and need a separate AI plan after the trial13, and several AI Link Genius fixes shipped between June and October 202614.

Best for: Sites already on AIOSEO Pro or Elite.
Link Assistant lists orphaned posts and inserts suggested links in one click, one at a time or in bulk11,15.
The trade-off: Its docs say it works best with English and the block editor; there are no keyword rules, no documented undo, and broken links are a separate product11,16.

Keyword rules link automatically across the site with no review, and the core plugin is free with 90,000+ installs24,25.
The trade-off: Links are added when the page is shown — deactivate it and they disappear26. No broken-link or Search Console features27.

What happens to your links and rules when you switch.
- Export your auto-link rules as CSV from Link Whisper before you deactivate it2. Whatever you move to, that file is your list of keywords and targets.
- Leave Link Whisper’s existing links where they are. They are ordinary links in your posts and stay after the plugin is removed1.

Will I lose my links if I stop using Link Whisper?
No. Link Whisper writes ordinary links into your posts and confirms they stay when the plugin is removed1. The tools to ask about are the ones that do not: Internal Link Juicer, Linkbot and LinkStorm.
