Uninstall the plugin, and decide what happens to its links
Links Silotree wrote are ordinary links in your posts, so by default they stay when you remove the plugin. Before deleting it you can choose to strip Silotree’s marks from them, or to take them all out.
Steps
Open Settings → Silotree and find When this plugin is deleted
In WordPress open Settings → Silotree and scroll to the When this plugin is deleted card. WordPress only runs this on delete, not on deactivate.
Choose what happens to the links and save
- Keep the links (default): they become ordinary WordPress links. This is the promise on the pricing page.
- Keep the links, remove the Silotree marks: the links stay, and the
data-standdata-silotreeattributes Silotree added are removed. - Remove every Silotree link and leave the words behind: every link Silotree wrote is taken out; the words stay in your sentences. Links you added yourself are not touched.
Save the setting.
Deactivate the plugin under Plugins
Go to Plugins and press Deactivate under Silotree. This only stops its scheduled jobs: links, settings and undo history are all kept, and you can reactivate at any time.
Delete the plugin
Press Delete. WordPress runs Silotree’s clean-up: it applies your choice from step 2 to every post, then removes the plugin’s tables, settings, site key, scheduled jobs and undo records. Silotree never stores anything in your posts’ custom fields, so nothing is left behind there.
Remove the site from your Silotree account
Deleting the plugin doesn’t tell Silotree. To remove the site from your account, use Disconnect site in Silotree’s Settings → Danger zone; to stop paying, see cancel your plan.
What you should see
Silotree is gone from your Plugins list and admin menu. Depending on your choice, your posts still contain the links (with or without Silotree’s marks), or the words without links.
If it doesn’t work
- I want to take back just some links before deleting
Undo those batches first, from Silotree → Undo or Results in the app — see write and undo batches. After deletion, undo is no longer possible.
- Deleting timed out on a very large site
Stripping marks or removing links walks every post in batches. If your host stopped it part way, reinstall the plugin, set the same choice, and delete it again. Posts already done have nothing left to change, so running it twice does no harm.
See delete your account. Links stay in your posts either way.
Questions
Can I undo a batch after deleting the plugin?
No. Deleting the plugin removes its undo records. Undo anything you want taken back before you delete it.
Does deleting the plugin cancel my plan?
No. The plugin does not tell Silotree it was removed. Cancel your plan, or remove the site, from Silotree’s Settings.
