Check the internal links to any page
Paste the address of one page — a post you care about, a product, a guide — and see which of your articles link to it, which pages it links to, and the exact words each link uses. Menu and footer links are noted separately, because they are on every page.
Free · No account · A scan of your site
We scan the site the page is on
Read-only, up to 500 pages. If the site was scanned in the last day — by any of these tools — we use that scan and you get an answer in seconds.
We find your page in it
With or without www, http or a trailing slash. If it isn’t there, we suggest the closest addresses we did read.
We list its links both ways
Every article linking in, every page it links out to, the words of each link, and anything broken.
Why look at one page’s links
Google’s guidance is that every page you care about should be linked from at least one other page, and that link text should describe the page it points to.1 Its John Mueller has called internal linking one of the biggest levers a site has to show which pages matter.2 For a page you are trying to grow, the first question is simply: who links here, and what do those links say?
Search Console’s Links report gives a count of internal links, but it does not separate menu and footer links from links in your writing, and it does not show the words. This inspector does both.
How the inspector works
It reads the whole site the page belongs to, because links into a page live on other pages. Each link is sorted by where it sits: inside the article, or in a menu, footer, sidebar or related-posts block. The figures and lists use links in the writing; the rest are summarised in one line (“also linked from menus on 348 pages”).
Click depth here is the number of clicks from the start page through links in writing, as the click depth checker measures it. “Not in sitemap” means the site’s sitemaps did not list the page when we read them.
Limits
A page outside the first 500 pages read, a draft, or a page that redirects elsewhere will not be found — the inspector suggests the closest addresses it did read instead. Links that only appear after JavaScript runs are not seen.
How to read the result
- Articles linking here — zero means the page is an orphan as far as your writing goes, whatever your menu says.
- The words of each link — highlighted amber when generic (“click here”). Several different, descriptive phrases is the healthy pattern.
- Links out — zero means a dead end. Broken links out are marked.
- ×2, ×3 next to a link means the same page links here with the same words more than once.
What to do next
If an important page has few links in, find the older posts that already mention its subject and link from them. The internal link audit checklist covers what else to check on a page you care about, and the guide to anchor text for internal links how to word the new links.
To find every page with no links in, not just this one, use the orphan page finder; to check wording across the whole site, the anchor text analyser. Silotree finds the sentences in your older posts that should link to a page and writes the links you approve.
How this compares with other free tools
As each tool’s own page described it when we checked on 11 October 2026. Tools change — if a line here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.
| Tool | Limits | Menu and footer links kept apart? |
|---|---|---|
| This tool | Whole site up to 500 pages, links both ways; no account | Yes — menu links counted separately |
| QuickSEO internal linking audit | One page at a time | Shows a link position; menus not confirmed as separate |
| LinkBoss orphan page checker | 50 URLs per check; no account | Not stated; counts internal links generally |

About the internal links to a page
How do I check how many internal links point to a page?
Paste its address above. We read your site and list every other article that links to it from inside its writing, with the words of each link. Search Console's Links report gives a count too, but it doesn't separate menu and footer links from links in your writing.
Why are menu and footer links counted separately?
A menu link is on every page and says nothing about how your articles relate. A page that is only in your menu is still an orphan as far as your writing goes, and that's the thing you can fix.
How many internal links should point to a page?
Google gives no number; its rule is that every page you care about should be linked from at least one other page. In a study of 23 million internal links, pages got more search clicks as links in grew, up to roughly 40–50, and fewer beyond that — which the author puts down to site-wide menu links. A correlation, not a target.
What does click depth mean here?
How many clicks it takes to reach the page from your home page by following links inside articles. A page no chain of article links reaches has no depth at all.
Why wasn't my page found?
The free scan reads up to 500 pages. A page past that, a draft, a page that redirects elsewhere, or one that blocks our crawler won't be in it. We show the nearest addresses we did read.
