Which internal linking plugin fits you?
Eight questions about your site and how you work, and an answer with its reasons. It is written by one of the tools on the list, so it is built to be caught being fair: where another plugin — or no plugin — fits you better, it says so.

Answer eight questions
Your site’s size and language, how posts are built, how much control you want, and what you’d spend.
Every answer moves the scores
Each tool gains or loses points for a stated reason, taken from our comparison pages, which list where each competitor is better.
See the reasons, not just a name
Your top three, with what suits you and what doesn’t, and a link to the full comparison.
How the picker decides
Every answer adds points to the tools it suits and takes points from the ones it doesn’t, and every point carries the sentence you see in the result. The facts behind those sentences are the ones on our comparison pages — for example Silotree compared with Link Whisper — which each list where the competitor is the better buy.
- Language. Silotree’s link wording is tuned for seven languages; for any other, Link Whisper or LinkBoss is the safer choice.12
- Page builders. Silotree reads page-builder posts but will not write to them; Link Whisper works with them, and render-time rules (Internal Link Juicer) never touch the markup.13
- Hands-off rules. If you want keyword rules running on their own, Internal Link Juicer is built for exactly that; Silotree asks before every change.3
- Links where no words fit. LinkBoss can write a sentence to hold a link; Silotree only wraps words already there.2
- A suite you already pay for. On a modest site, Rank Math’s or Yoast’s link features are often enough.45
- A technical audit. Screaming Frog, not a linking plugin.6
- A small site. Under about a hundred posts, a free audit and an afternoon by hand often covers it.
Products change. These were checked on 11 October 2026; if one is out of date, tell us and we will correct the picker and the comparison page together.

About the which internal linking plugin?
Is this picker biased toward Silotree?
It is written by Silotree, so judge it by its answers: it recommends Link Whisper or LinkBoss for languages we haven't tuned, Link Whisper for page-builder sites, Internal Link Juicer if you want rules running on their own, Screaming Frog for technical audits, and no plugin at all for small sites.
What is the best free internal linking plugin?
Internal Link Juicer's core plugin is free and links keywords automatically; Link Whisper Free has suggestions and reports, with its orphan finder and auto-linking in the paid version; Yoast and Rank Math include link features in their suites. Silotree's audit is free and complete, and writes your first 10 links free.
Do I need an internal linking plugin at all?
Under about a hundred posts, often not: a free audit and an afternoon of linking by hand covers it. Plugins earn their keep as the archive grows and keeping every post connected by hand stops being realistic.
Where do the claims about other tools come from?
From each product's own pages and our comparison pages, which describe how each tool works and where it is genuinely better. Products change; if a claim is out of date, tell us and we'll correct it.
